Surface Cleaning
Before any new sealer can be applied, the paver surface must be thoroughly cleaned. In most cases, the use of a high temperature hot water power washing cleaner will be used. In some instances, a chemical cleaning agent may be applied to lift stubborn stains. We use top of the line, powerful machines specifically designed for pavers and natural stone.
During the paver cleaning services process, most of the joint sand between the pavers will be forced out from between the pavers, along with any dirt, weeds, and plant material. Our steam cleaning process leaves your brick pavers and natural stone unbelievably clean!
Sanding The Joints
Fresh, clean, new joint sand needs to be put between the joints once the paver surface has been completely cleaned and the old joint sand has been removed. In order to replace the sand that was removed during cleaning, fresh polymetric sand is swept over the paver surface at this stage of the procedure.
The joint sand is then swept clean into the pavers to secure it. Sand is forced between the pavers then water is applied to the surface to harden the poly sand. Sand will not be left on the paver surface after a project that has been thoroughly sanded.
We apply according to ICPI (Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute) industry requirements which state that joint sand should extend between 1/8th and 1/4th inch below the brick paver’s edge.
Sealer Application
Once the joint sand is at the proper level, the newly cleaned paver stones can be sealed. Because we use a professional grade and high quality water based sealer, there is no need to let the surface dry out. This is an additional step to bind the poly sand. The sealer is applied liberally, making sure that the new joint sand is thoroughly saturated.
The penetrating sealer not only prevents stains, but also hardens and stabilizes the joint sand, keeping your paver system in place. This provides a wet look and brings out the color. Our commercial grade sealer is environmentally friendly and includes algae/mold inhibitor. Your newly cleaned and sealed pavers are then ready for use after 24 hours.
